About the company
Deon and Dylan have both been hunting since their days on the farm in Zimbabwe and it has always been a dream of theirs to start their own company. This is when Cloete and West Safaris started and grew from there.
Today, Cloete and West Safaris offer top-class hunting safraris, photographic safaris and fishing safaris. With their combined experience, they are able to offer more than just a hunt, but an unforgettable experience. They now operate in countries such as Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Cameroon and Zimbabwe. If you would like to do more than hunting, we can either arrange for a fishing safari or a photographic safari or combine either one or both of these with your hunt.
With the help of Deon’s wife, Sonnette, who has 7 years experience in photographic safaris and lodge management, we can tailor make a safari to your specific requirements, whether you would like to do a solo hunt or bring your whole family along for an adventure of a lifetime. Deon West
Professional Hunter
Deon West was raised on a farm in Zimbabwe where hunting was part of daily life for him which later on developed into his passion and eventually, his career.
Deon comes from a long line of big game hunters as his father and grandfather were both big game hunters in Northern and Southern Rhodesia, now known as Zimbabwe and Zambia. Starting his apprenticeship in Tanzania in 2001, he later went on and also hunted successfully in Ethiopia, Cameroon, Central African Republic, and has taken over 71 species of plains and dangerous game with clients from all walks of life.
His no-nonsense style of hunting and his ability to get the game on the ground has already secured him a top reputation in big game circles. Deon is very dedicated and passionate about his job as it has always been a lifelong dream to follow in his fathers’ footsteps…

Dylan Cloete
Professional Hunter
Dylan Cloete grew up on a remote cattle and game ranch in Western Zimbabwe. Coming from a farming and boarding school background, Dylan developed a passion for wildlife and nature from a very young age.
This early exposure to the African wilderness has been central to Dylan’s career choice as a professional hunter. Hunting since his teens, it was clear for Dylan which path to take. Originally conducting his apprenticeship in Zimbabwe, Dylan decided to venture further afield and as a professional hunter has been conducting safaris in Tanzania, Ethiopia and Zimbabwe for the past 15 years.
Those who have hunted with Dylan can testify to his focus, work ethic and his ability to enjoy every safari. Dylan currently lives in Zimbabwe and travels between countries for Safaris. He is able to hunt in most African countries on request.
